Caprese Tulips with Tomatrio Tomatoes and Bocconcini

20 minutes
6-8

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of SAVOURA tricolour Tomatrio tomatoes (680 g)
  • 24 mini bocconcini
  • 1 bunch of fresh basil (Gourma)
  • 1 bunch of green onions
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Balsamic glaze, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Wooden skewers or long toothpicks

Preparation

  1. Prepare the Tomatrio tomatoes
Using a small knife, cut a cross at the top of each Tomatrio tomato. Gently remove the seeds to create a slight hollow.
  2. Create the stems
Trim the green onions, so they’re the same length as the skewers. Slide them onto the skewers to create edible stems, or use them decoratively on your serving platter.
  3. Stuff with bocconcini
Insert one mini bocconcini into each tomato, then gently press the stuffed tomato onto the top of a skewer (or green onion), forming a complete tulip.
  4. Assemble the bouquet
Arrange your tulip skewers in a glass jar or on a wooden board. Add fresh basil leaves around the stems for a bouquet effect. Serve with a small bowl of balsamic glaze topped with chopped basil.
  5. Serve
Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and serve fresh.

SAVOURA TIP:

Add the balsamic glaze just before serving. For an elegant touch, you can drizzle decorative lines directly on the serving board using the glaze.
